Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 diced yellow onion
  • 1 small diced ginger root
  • 1/4 cup butter (1/2 stick)
  • 1 Tbsp ground ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 3 pounds of diced chicken breast
  • 1/4 cup of yogurt
  • 1 1/4 cup half & half (or heavy cream)
  • 2 Tbsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 12 oz canned tomato sauce
  • 3 Tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 tsp lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Step 1- Dice yellow onion and brown with garlic in oil
  2. Step 2- add diced ginger and butter
  3. Step 3- Once butter is melted, add chicken and cook until brown
  4. Step 4- Mix in garam masala, chili powder, salt, pepper, and lemon juice until chicken is cooked
  5. Step 5- Mix in tomato sauce and tomato paste, add yogurt and half & half until a red-orange color is achieved
  6. Step 6- Season to taste (sometimes add more garam masala for a drier flavor)
  7. Step 7- (Optional) serve with rice or naan bread, top with diced tomatoes and feta
